Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Officers stated they were notified by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack made him without words and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
